Cleaning after the remodel

The contractor is done. The dust is not.

We clean up after kitchen, bath and whole-house remodels in three stages, under a dust-control and debris policy we put in writing, with a quote you can read line by line.

  • A quote written by stage
  • HEPA-filter vacuums on every visit
  • Debris policy in writing

How it works

Three cleans, each when the work is ready for it

A remodel makes dust in stages, so we clean in stages. Book the one you need or all three; the quote lists each one.

After drywall is sanded

Rough clean

We bag the drywall dust and offcuts, vacuum the subfloors and wipe every ledge, sill and stud bay we can reach, so the painters and floor crews work on a clean surface.

Final clean

Every surface in the remodeled rooms, top to bottom, then the path through the rest of the house. Glass and fixtures, cabinets inside and out, floors last.

Touch-up clean

Dust keeps settling for days in a house that was closed up for weeks. Two of us come back for the sills, glass, fan blades and floor corners that show it.

The touch-up clean

How the quote works

One house, three cleans, one written quote

Your quote lists each stage on its own line for your house, so you can book one or all three.

What decides the price

The size of the whole house, how closed up it was, the floors and glass, and how many stages you book.

What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't

Each stage is its own line, so you can book one or all three. The quote lists the rooms, the stage and what is not included, such as hauling your contractor's debris.

When you get the number

Emma writes it within one business day of your request, once she has walked the house. The total holds unless the house differs from what you told us.

If the job changes

If the house or the finish date changes, tell us and Emma rewrites the quote before the work. Dried paint or adhesive is quoted as a separate item.

Dust control

How we keep the dust out of the rest of your house

Sanding dust travels. These are the habits that keep a bathroom remodel from showing up in the bedrooms.

  • Your contractor's barriers stay up until the rough clean is done

  • Top to bottom, with the floors last

  • HEPA-filter vacuums and damp cloths; no dry sweeping, no compressed air

  • Floor runners and shoe covers on the way in

  • Registers wiped; ducts left to a duct company

  • A raking-light walk-through at the end

The debris policy

Where the debris goes

Our cleaning debris leaves with us. Your contractor's stays with your contractor, so nothing is hauled twice and nothing is left for nobody.

Who comes to your house

Three people, and you meet all three

We take one job at a time and send the same people to every stage of it.

  • Emma Davenport

    Owner, writes your quote

Emma walks the house with you or your contractor, writes the quote and works every stage herself.

  • Peyton Wolfe

    Cleaner, rough and final cleans

Peyton runs the vacuums and the top-to-bottom order of the rough and final cleans.

  • Anali Casillas

    Cleaner, glass and touch-ups

Anali does the glass, the tracks and the touch-up visit, and keeps the list of what we left for your contractor.

From homeowners

What they noticed after the remodel

“Emma wrote down what the rough clean covered and what the final clean covered. When the tile setter came back the next week, the subfloor was still clean.”

Keshia B.Kitchen remodel, Church Hill

“The doors stayed shut for the whole bathroom job and the upstairs hall had almost no drywall dust in it when they finished. The vacuum filters were on the invoice.”

Russ N.Two bathrooms, Forest Hill

“Peyton asked the contractor where the dumpster was before the final clean and stacked the offcuts by the door instead of bagging them with the dust.”

Vickie M.Whole-house remodel, Windsor Farms

“The touch-up a week later found fan blades and window tracks I would not have looked at. It was on the quote from the first day.”

Short answers

Questions before you book

How much will it cost?

It depends on the size of the house, how much dust there is and how many stages you book. The pricing page explains what moves the number, and the quote we write for your house lists every line.

When do I book each stage?

Book when your contractor gives you a finish date for each stage. Tell us the date and we hold it, and we move it for free if the work slips, up to two times.

Do you haul away my contractor's debris?

No. We bag and carry out our own cleaning debris. Offcuts, old cabinets and demolition debris stay with your contractor; the policy table above says who takes what.

Do I need to be home?

No. A lockbox, a key from your contractor or a door code sent by text all work. We keep codes in a written log and never in the quote form.

My house was built before 1978. Is that a problem?

Ask your contractor whether the work followed the EPA's lead rules for renovation, because containing sanding dust is their job. We clean after the work; we do not test for lead or clean up lead paint debris.

What if you miss something?

Tell us within 48 hours and send photos. We come back and finish it at no charge. The terms are on the policies page.

Send the address and the finish date

Tell us the rooms, the size of the house and when your contractor expects to finish. We reply with a written quote by stage within one business day.
